Company Profile
The Argus Software Group develops and markets desktop computer software products for engineering applications. These products assist the engineer in solving data-intensive, physical problems in multi-dimensional complex domains through the use of numerical models. Argus works closely with software developers, numerical model developers, system integrators, consulting firms, modelers and other engineering end-users, providing complementary development tools as well as turn-key solutions to meet customer requirements in a diverse array of fields.
The Argus Open Numerical Environments (Argus ONE) family of products, a set of general purpose finite element and finite difference pre- and post- processors, is a dynamic Geographical Information System (GIS) for modelers. The product expedite modelling, decision making and planning tasks such as those encountered in modeling ground water systems, oceanographic systems, coastal systems, and civil engineering planning. Argus ONE can be seamlessly integrated with a broad range of third-party modeling software applications, increasing productivity by automating pre-and post-processing activities. The three tessellation modules, Argus MeshMaker®, Argus MeshMaker® Pro Triangular Mesh, and Argus MeshMaker® Pro Quadrilateral Mesh, are fully integrated within the Argus Open Numerical Environments workplace, and allow for generating, editing and manipulating meshes and grids and the data linked to them.
Argus products are designed to significantly shorten work cycles by computerizing the repetitive, manual processes previously required to operate 2D and quasi 3D finite element and finite difference models. They reduce the time and difficulty required in the model pre- and post-processing phases by an order of magnitude and more. Automatic inter-layer linking, pre-existing export templates, graphical drawing and digitizing tools, are just a few of the power tools designed to take the drudgery out of assembling, organizing and representing the huge quantities and diverse types of data encountered in modeling geophysical domain problems. The various stages of numerical model pre-processing are unified and automated within a consistent, intuitive graphical user interface. The interface rigorously adheres to the menu-driven, object-oriented, point-and-click conventions characteristic of the Macintosh and Windows environments.
Argus Numerical Environments are based on a modular "building-block" architecture, which organizes engineering tasks into distinct, easy-to-manage elements.
There are six distinct types of elements:
This modular, integrated architecture facilitates design, editing, management and maintenance of large, complex data sets and their graphical representations. This enables rapid navigation in and among the various elements and robust database querying capabilities.
For the software developer and system integrator, Argus provides "generic" software tools and modular solutions that support a diverse set of engineering challenges involving numerical modeling and model processing. The result of these integrated elements is a powerful and flexible application that can complement and complete external modeling software. To optimize efficiency, compatibility and upgradability, Argus uses state-of-the-art object-oriented design and implementation techniques, relying exclusively on multi-platform C++ source code.
Argus products are characterized by their connectivity and flexibility for both model developers and end-user modelers. Users can perform all pre- and post-processing composition in a single system, facilitating rapid orientation and model construction. A powerful export capability enables users to create application-specific templates so that data exchange with external software applications can be established and consistently repeated. Standard Dynamic Library Links (DLLs) support seamless connections with a wide variety of third-party modeling programs and databases.
